Transformative Cultures – Reading Group

One of the most exciting projects I am currently involved in asks what is the role of culture in society and what is the role of the critic? Or, to put it differently, what can culture and critics do in/for the world we live in. Can we do anything? Should we do anything? Optimistically perhaps, I believe we can and, with colleagues, have set out, through a reading group, to work out what it is we can do. Then, hopefully, we can get on with doing it! The reading for this year has been Jacques Rancière’s The Future of the Image and I hope to write some posts soon summarising my thoughts ….
